Business Skills Workshops for Performers and Artists

About the workshops:
Producer Tanja Raaste of Nordic Nomad Productions has put together a series of workshops to teach skills such as selling, marketing, and presentation confidence to creatives, paying special attention to building confidence as well as practical skills in supportive small-group environments.

Artists from all disciplines realise the importance of good business skills to back up their creative talent, but often feel nervous, at a loss of where to begin, or just need an extra boost. The aim of these workshops is not only to learn new skills but to develop the confidence to put them into practice immediately.

Past students have made a lot of progress in a very short time, because the courses focus on uncovering the root of the problems the participants are encountering in their business practices and then addressing these things directly, in a supportive environment.

Who should attend: The workshops are open to artists of all disciplines (theatre, fine art, music, dance, photography, design etc.) wishing to update their skills in these areas and therefore open up new avenues to themselves in their chosen fields.
They are also suited to recent graduates embarking on their careers in the arts.

Coming up! book now to confirm your place:

Saturday 23rd August - Tulse Hill (Brixton)

Selling Yourself without Selling Your Soul

AM session (9.30-13.00)

Being able to sell yourself and your work is of crucial importance to all artists. This course teaches you easy methods of promoting your work and becoming your own ambassador. With no soul-selling involved!

We will focus on your current projects, and any particular sticking-points, such as networking, or confidence in presentation.

LUNCH

Negotiating a Better Deal

PM session (14.00-17.30)

This workshop focuses on the skills needed in negotiation situations, selling your work, negotiating partnerships, co-productions, payrises.

It covers things like confidence-building, effective communication and assertiveness as well as negotiation techniques.

After this workshop, you will feel more comfortable negotiating contracts, securing better fees, arranging partnerships and dealing with any occasional awkward situations.

Done well, negotiation is like a game. It can be fun, and very, very rewarding. We need to ditch the idea that it is an intensely serious activity, and when we do that, we can lose our fear of it.
